For the last couple years I have been informally taking pictures, mostly music related stuff. It’s a sweet hobby.. and I love that I can call it a hobby. I’ve decided not to accept compensation for anything photo related I do, keeps the projects very fun. The other artistic endeavors I am involved with, like my day job, are also fun. I’m sure you can relate, when you’re getting paid things are just different.

Anywho.. let me get down to business right quick.

I was asked to take photos of Oderus Urungus (front man of Gwar) tomorrow morning. I’m not going to lie, I am not a die hard Gwar fan… in fact I heard about Gwar for the first time when they were featured in one of my favorite movies, Empire Records, and frankly thought they were supposed to be comical. With that said, I’m not taking tomorrow lightly, I am very excited to have the chance to take pictures of this guy… supposedly it’s going to be a once in a lifetime sort of event. The pictures are being shot during a commercial he is shooting, they’re for use in HM Magazine, a mid-sized indie rock print zine.

I was informed last night, via instant message, that Ryan Hayes would be purchasing, or may have already purchased, a Rihanna cd.

 Some quick investigative journalism led me to the realization that Rihanna is a pop music singer. I’ll try to find out more as this unfolds, but in the meantime I’ve posted a picture of Mandy Moore buying an 8 track tape, which according to my scientific research is the exact inverse of Ryan purchasing a Rihanna cd.

 Oh, and I’m still trying to figure out who Rihanna is, but I did find this album cover by an artist named Sine while doing my research. Looks pretty sweet. “Just Let Me Do My Thing” sounds right up my alley.

What’s up, I am Jostin. I helped Ryan put the original words into this press. I am finally saying something, saying hi… hi! Hopefully you’ll hear more from me in the future. However, I am a bit shy and like to keep myself extremely busy. If nothing else, I am a loyal reader of weslipaway.. and who knows, maybe someday I’ll finish up the “people” page!

Let me give some brief details..

Ryan and I have been friends for going on 4 years now, what a cool dude. I just turned 20 on the 10th of February and I’m from Seattle, WA. I currently work full time as a Creative Director in Pittsburgh, PA… it’s alright here, but a little too cold. Until last year I ran an indie record label called Less Avenged with a friend. These days I fill my days with lots of work, and numerous hobbies like photography and organizing iTunes.

Not sure what else to say about myself… I’m excited to get to know the community that Ryan has built.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Cat Power lately. If that can kind of explain the mood I’ve been in for the past week or so.

Here are some of my feelings about the Oscars (not that it’s much). This year’s Oscars were super shitty (not that I watched it or anything). But looking at all the competitors.. The Golden Compass was nominated for something? And won?! Am I missing something here? That is ridiculous.

I feel that there were more movies released this past year that should’ve been recognized, but oh well. It is what it is.

an observation, if I may: Hannah Montana has an insane overbite. She needs to use some of that Disney money and have some corrective surgery done. No picture; on the iPhone.
