I’ve never been more moved by a candidate than I am by Barack Obama. I openly expressed my support for Ron Paul just off reading what he was about. I grew up in the nineties and lived in Texas at the time of Ross Perot. His craziness and drive to push something “better” upon this country was shadowed by his greed and the fact he physically owned a good portion of the state of Texas, as far as land is concerned, made it a little scary. I enjoy what Ron Paul stands for but the fact that he wants to abolish the IRS screams one thing to me. That one thing is high hopes. Are they too high? I believe they are. I was having a conversation with my girlfriend the other day about settling for a candidate. She feels very strongly that she doesn’t want to just settle. She wants to really vote for someone that is best for America. She wants to vote for someone she confidently supports. This really resinated with me. The fact is, Ron Paul is a dreamer. He’s a man with high hopes, most of which I believe are much too hard to reach in one term, much less two, and even ten, if it were possible. If we walk away appreciating anything Ron Paul has done for this election, make it the following: He’s made people think outside the box. That term is so overused, but he has. He’s made a regular American college student want to get involved. He made me want to participate in fixing the terrible atrocities that are our country.
Now that I’m there, I’ve begun to think. I’ve begun to open my mind and not settle, but like I said, I confidently support Barack Obama. Barack Obama never supported the war.
“Barack Obama opposed the war in Iraq from the beginning. In 2002, as the conventional thinking in Washington lined up for war, Obama had the judgment and courage to speak out against the war. He said the war would lead to “an occupation of undetermined length, with undetermined costs and undetermined consequences.” In January 2007, Obama introduced legislation to responsibly end the war in Iraq, with a phased withdrawal of troops engaged in combat operations.”
He questioned in 2002 about the possible issues that could come of Iraq. 6 or some odd years later and he was correct on a monumental level. We’ve seen the questions he’s brought up in the beginning develop into real issues. Obama will immediately begin bringing our troops home upon his election. Iraq’s religious undertones is the reason the battle is so rough. The implementation of their ideals and beliefs are alongside ours, they’re just willing to die for them. It’s virtually impossible to change the ideas they’ve lived by for hundreds of years. We either start the withdrawal now and suffer or we suffer later upon a far less accomplished exit. Either way we’re obviously looking at a painful walk home. We’ve lost. We’ve implemented very little democracy (the wrong way) into a country that doesn’t want it (in the form we’re presenting it). In my life, if you don’t want me to do you a favor or help you in a time of trouble, I won’t. I will not push my ideals down your throat until you want my head on a plate; we’ve done exactly this. I don’t want to live in an America that believes and practices the way we do now. I won’t move but I won’t stand for it.“
Obama will launch the most aggressive diplomatic effort in recent American history to reach a new compact on the stability of Iraq and the Middle East. This effort will include all of Iraq’s neighbors — including Iran and Syria. This compact will aim to secure Iraq’s borders; keep neighboring countries from meddling inside Iraq; isolate al Qaeda; support reconciliation among Iraq’s sectarian groups; and provide financial support for Iraq’s reconstruction.
Obama plans on a fazed withdrawal from Iraq that will quickly, over a 16 month time table, help us move most all of our combat brigades out. His plan to obviously keep a small amount in Iraq to protect our embassy and extremely small amount of diplomats is required. He does say that if al Qaeda attempts to radically construct in Iraq, he will mobilize in the defeat of that sect.
Thank you for reading. Please understand that if I do anything for you, it’s to make you think. The goal of this blog is to present all walks of life, funny or not. This is serious and it’s coming down to the wire. Do yourself a favor and vote. I don’t care personally who you vote for, it’s your decision. If you don’t vote, walk around for the next 4 years (Starting 2009, you can talk until then) with your mouth shut, I don’t want to hear your opinion.
